I want to get a Yorkie dog. If anyone has one, could you tell me everything that you need to do to take care of one?

I have one…had her for abour 2 years…

You don’t need much more than anything you need for any other dog. A water dish, a food dish…mine is an indoor dog, so you might need pee pads.

She doesn’t like it outside much, but she’s learning.

Mine barks…. A LOT….so I have to buy a bark collar…that will give her s lil chock when it’s on her if she barks. It’s not on her much, but helps in the mornings. Howvere, she must forget the lesson, because if it’s not on, she still barks like crazy.

No worries, her voice box will give out soon.

if you want a dog get a kerry blue terrier, they are amazing no shedding hair great with kids and if you have any allergies they are they best, great companions although can be possessive of owners but i think that is great

If u have other pets don’t get a yorkie they like to fight

This is a breed made popular by the Queen of England. They are know to be unruley and very loyal to their master. They are very powerful in a pack and will take down a dog much larger than themselfs. Reasearch the Queen Mother there is alot of info there.

I have had a Yokie for almost 8 years now and she is the best lil dog ever. She’s obedient, fully housetrained since she was 5 weeks old, very loyal and a great companion. I’ve never had her be unruly. She loves attention.
She has her own bed, toys, feed dishes of course. She is very spoiled.
Yorkies do require a bit of attention and grooming. they love being the center of attention. They love being with their owners all the time, but mine also likes to be in her crate if kids are around.

If you have children then I would recommend you get a silky terrier because they are heartier but if you do not then a Yorkie would probably be just fine.

The only thing you must be careful of is that it does not learn to bite people. it is impossible to train it out of them once they start.
just keep lot’s of fun toy’s, thing’s that will comfort them while they are teething, different textures.
Do not let small children around them unnattended.
If the children upset the dog, that could make it start biting children.

I have had 2 yorkies. I recently had to have one put to sleep because of kidney failure. I miss her so bad I could scream. Both of my yorkies were the best mannered, well behaved and social little dogs I’ve ever seen. They love people, I think that may have something to do with the way you socialize them, but yorkies can be wonderful little loving pets. If you have children though remember that yorkies are small and can be hurt by small children. My little male yorkie absolutely LOVES children. When the grandchildren go home he mopes around for 2 days. He misses them. Keep them well groomed, don’t feed them table scraps, and make sure you protect them for heartworms as you sure won’t want to lose them to something you could protect them for. your yorkie will love attention so just love it.
