There are two different types of ear infections generally seen in dogs. The first is called otitis media, which affects the middle ear, and the second is known as otitis externa, which is an infection of the outer ear canal. Either of these ear infections can be successfully treated by your veterinarian. The problem comes when the infection is not treated quickly and efficiently; then serious problems – and damage – can result.

I know that Petsmart has an ear cleaning and disinfecting kit. If you really need an antibiotic go to a feed store they sell them there, I don’t know what state your in but out here in the So. Ca. area we have Centinela, and Aneheim feed, to name a few, but usually anywhere that sells horse supplies and other types of animal supplies should have some.

You do know that antibiotics aren’t a magic bullet that cures everything. In fact there is a lot they won’t work on. By using antibiotics unnecessarily, you will also aid the spread of antibiotic resistant illnesses. Just a little something to think on.
