Question by Justine Y: do you think people should buy dogs from a shelter or store?
there is a Commercial that sings a song starting with “In the arms of an angel”.Its about how people neglect their dogs and throw them into the pound.I would personally buy a dog at a shelter ,but i want to see what you would do…1 less dog to get killed hopelessly and 1 more saved. What would you do ?

Never from a pet store!!!!! Either adopt a dog from the Humane Society or a shelter, or get a pup from a reputable and responsible breeder.

Both my dogs are rescues.
Never buy from a pet shop.
They get the puppys from backyard breeders and puppy mills.

I don’t know anyone that’s had luck with a store dog. I’ve bought from breeders and the humane society and have always been happy. My current dog was a shelter dog and is the best. He loves everyone, and has been nothing short of fantastic.
I feel bad for the woman that gave him up. It must have been hard.

save a shelter animal. they are perfectly good dogs. you can find purebreds, trained dogs, etc. i’ve gotten all three of my current dogs from shelters.
by buying a dog from a petstore, you could potentially be supporting puppy mills.

definitely get a dog from a shelter, these poor animals have neglected, abused and need a loving home. By adopting a dog you are saving it’s life and giving another dog a chance at being adopted. Also, most places where you adopt from will make sure that that dog is a perfect match to your lifestyle. By buying a dog from a pet store or a local breeder you creating an increasing market for more dogs to reproduce and therefore more dogs are ending up in shelters and on the streets.

Shelter!
It’s rescuing a dog that might otherwise be put down, and usually they are already toilet trained, etc.
